11/4: wiped out at Panera bread November 4, 2009

I mean completely ate it.  There was some water on the floor and I thudded to the ground.  hahaha  Mortifying.  Even more mortifying was that like 3 employees came over to make sure I was okay (I am- just a bruised ego and probably a big old bruise on my knee as of tomorrow morning) and they offered me cookies so I wouldn’t sue.  Don’t even get me started on this nonsense- it was a freaking accident, but I know that a million people would be ready to cash the heck in.   So thank you to the lovely Panera people who helped me up and thank you to everyone else for giggling quietly and not in my face.  haha

10/26 BONUS: went to a Monday party October 27, 2009

My friends Jess and Kevin had a neighborhood/friends party last night so we trekked over.  There were a ton of people there and we had a blast.  So fun!

 

10/9: watched a documentary about Kathy and Diana October 10, 2009

These are two incredible women who were determined to live independent lives regardless of their disabilities.  I was riveted.  What an inspiration to us all.  Rest in peace, Kathy.

7/30: used a motorized toothbrush July 30, 2009

I wanted to call it electric, but it doesn’t plug in.  Do batteries count?  I realize how stupid this sounds.  Either way, this thing is a dream.  How have I not done this before.  I am an oddity in that I truly enjoy going to the dentist.  I love the way my teeth feel, I like to floss, and I enjoy the company of my dentist (who is hysterical) and the receptionist.  The toothbrush gives me the same clean feeling without all the small talk though.

7/4: happy fourth of July July 4, 2009

Today is my favorite holiday.  I love America and am pleased to celebrate with fireworks and a cookout.  We are so blessed to live in this country.  Many thanks to all who have served/are serving in the military.

6/30: cleaned out my classroom June 30, 2009

I had no idea how much stuff I had.  I am teaching summer school which is at a different school than the one I work at, so I had to load up the car with stuff to take there.  BUT I don’t have my classroom yet so it is in my car.  Please don’t break into my car to steal children’s books and markers.  Thanks in advance.

Here’s an idea: if any strong person wants to make some money, get a CORI check and call your local school on the last day.  I can pretty much guarantee that teachers will fall all over themselves to have you clean their classrooms and move their things.  I would personally pay you a ton of freaking money to avoid this horrendous task.  However, I truly enjoy setting my classroom up so I don’t know if you could make this a two season gig.

Also, I cannot even believe that this day one year ago I was zooming across the Atlantic to Spain.  I am really sad because that was a fun adventure.  But I am still working on the Spanish, so that’s good.

So tonight I saw an old friend that I haven’t seen in twelve years.  She (Kara- momofthree.blogspot.com) came over with my other friend Melody and we had a great time just catching up.  Kara brought these:

6/13: Group Photo Hunt June 19, 2009

As Brian and Bryan were golfing, Kim and I were virtual BFFs this weekend.  Some highlights include: art, eating burgers, drinking, being the last two people at the Fours, being denied entry into anywhere in Faneuil Hall, staying up until 4 am, and seeing a shirtless faceoff outside of Tia’s.

The super highlight was when we went to a bar in the North End and played photo hunt (you know the one- GIRLS!)  As we were playing, we gathered some accomplices and we all played together.  Then we did a shot.  Then we remembered how old we are and got in a cab and went home.

6/12: made horrendous art June 19, 2009

There is an art gallery on the first floor of my building.  From what my eyes have been assaulted with, it appears that any jerk off the street can roll some clay into a ball and call it a sculpture or spray paint metal and scrape it off.  For the completely reasonable price of $2700 you could have the metal fiasco to hang on your own personal wallspace.  Maybe I don’t understand art at all.

My friend Kim and I decided that we would make some art of our own since anyone who wants to can apparently have a show in this gallery.  We are thinking it will involve white zin, Cheez Its, and absolutely no class.  Our supplies were: model magic, black paper that you scrape off to reveal colors, glitter, paint, and posterboard.  Throw in some Mexican food, chips, and a number of baby Coronas and you have quite an evening.

Sadly, we didn’t come up with a reasonable theme so we don’t have a show yet.  We will try again soon and I will definitely post pictures.
