Whooooooo!!!!! After three years, one master’s degree, and seven additonal graduate classes, I have finally finished my second licensure program. I am now licensed to teach (pending processing) moderate disablities pre-k to 8th grade and regular ed. 1-6 grades. NO MORE SCHOOL!!! NO MORE SCHOOL!!! I have nights to myself. This is so freaking awesome. I worked my butt off so I am so so so excited to be done. PS- of course I mean no more grad school. I will certainly be continuing to teach.
4/26: 30 Day Shred Level 2, Day 12 April 26, 2009
I love the skater move. I could do that all day. I do not love things involving planks. However, my arms are totally shaping up and I would be willing to bet I have lost a few pounds since beginning. I am not going to weigh myself until the end.
These weights are awesome. I do not have them, but would like them. Click on the picture to see for yourself.
4/25 Bonus 2: went to a murder mystery show April 26, 2009
This was so much fun. It was reasonable (tickets were $49 but included the show, dinner, and dessert) and we had a blast. We were there to celebrate Melanie’s birthday. The group I was with are some of my nearest and dearest and we have fun no matter what, but this was really an excellent night. Also, the food was really good.

4/25 bonus: 30 Day Shred Level 2, Day 11 April 25, 2009
Wow- there is quite a jump in expectation from Level 1. I am melting in a puddle of my own sweat. My heart is racing. I thought I was getting into decent shape. I guess I have no choice but to do that with Level 2. Walking pushups? Who knew?
Considering I want this to be what my body looks like, I guess I have to make some significant changes in my eating and exercise habits.
4/25: planned what I will do with my $1,000,000 that I don’t have April 25, 2009
Since visiting lottery hq yesterday, winning a million dollars has been on my mind. How awesome would that be? I know it is only $36000/year after taxes so it isn’t like you could quit your job (but I wouldn’t anyway since I am fortunate enough to have a job I truly enjoy.) Anyway, it is fun to dream. This is what I would do:
Split the $36000 in half. Keep $18000 for me and Brian and distribute the rest among our family.
Of the $18000, I would give $9000 to Brian to do with it what he pleases.
With my $9000, I would donate $1000 to the QAS (quincyanimalshelter.org.)
I would donate $1000 to our Special Olympics team.
I would take an excellent vacation with $2000.
I would save $2500.
I would pay some bills with the other $2500.
In subsequent years, I would continue to split the money with our family, donate to the QAS, and to the SOMA team.
Dear God, please don’t let me become a scratch ticket maniac. However, I promise to share, as outlined here in my blog. You could hold me to it. So if you let me win, I wouldn’t end up on the E! True Hollywood Story of Lottery Winners Who Lost it All. It would do good things.
4/24: visited lottery headquarters April 25, 2009
I learned a few things:
I. If you have a gambling problem, this is not the place for you.
A. You can buy lottery tickets out of not 1, but 2 vending machines.
1. One machine is red.
2. One machine is blue.
3. The “winners’ circle,” home to these machines, is about 400 s. ft.
B. You can also play Keno.
C. Winning feels pretty good.
1. $1000 is a good amount.
2. More would have been better.
3. Winning a million dollars on a scratch ticket would be the
best and weirdest day of your life.
4. You get your picture on the website only if you win a large amount.
D. They take out state taxes right away.
E. You get a tax form for federal taxes.
All in all, an interesting experience. FYI: I resisted the temptation to play any additional lottery games while on the premises.
EDIT: Sorry for the horrendous formatting and the random bolded words.
*Happy Birthday, Checkers. Miss you!*
4/23: took pictures of my small intestine April 23, 2009
How weird is this:
I had to swallow a gigantic pill which is actually a tiny camera (with a flash and all!)
The camera pill takes pictures of my small intestine.
The pictures are sent to the device I am wearing.
Hopeful outcome: the doctor will find out why I am anemic and I can sort it out instead of doing these ridiculous tests.
Anyway, it is sort of fascinating.

In related news, I am so hungry. You have to fast for a day before doing this test and you can only have clear liquids during the duration of the test (8-9 hours, but you can go home.) However, not eating really is making the pants fit better today. I know that is not a very healthy thing to say.
4/20: won $1000 dollars April 21, 2009
No joke- it was awesome. I had a scratch ticket that I forgot about that was a ten dollar winner. So we cashed it in yesterday for two $5 ones for kicks. The first one won nothing and I thought we won $500 bucks on the second. Whoo! I was so dazzled by the two dollar signs (you win that prize automatically) that I did not realize that one of our numbers matched the winning numbers. That was another $500 bucks. Sweet! So we split it and are using it for fun money.
Note: This is more money than I have spent on gambling in my life. I am not a scratch ticket, casino, SuperBowl squares sort of person on a regular basis.
4/19: slacker slacker slacker April 19, 2009
So I finished Level 1, Day 10 of the 30 Day Shred. I will be moving on to Level 2 on Tuesday. Tomorrow, I am going hiking so I am not going to do both. This week, I have not worked out nearly as much as I had planned both out of laziness and being busy. But now I am on April vacation so I am going to work out every single day. I am going to alternate the 30 Day Shred with jogging because it is getting nice out and I want to be outside more. So have a great long weekend if you are fortunate enough to have tomorrow off.
