2/25: determined what I am giving up for Lent February 25, 2009

I am not super religious. I am not even very religious. I suppose I would call myself more spiritual than religious.  However, every year at this exact time, I feel horrendously guilty if I don’t give something up.  So this year, in an attempt to save some money, I have decided to give up Dunkin Donuts.  (Not just the actual donuts with the handles, which would be challenging enough, but going there for anything at all.)

Day 1- success (even though I drive past five or maybe even six Dunkin Donuts twice a day during my 2.6 mile commute.  Yes, two point six miles, not twenty-six.)  I am going on a donut binge for Easter.

2/14 bonus: skiied a golf course February 16, 2009

As you may know from the previous post, a number of lifts were closed at Sugarloaf.  As we skiied, we noticed that there were not a lot of people around, but we kept going because where the heck else could we go?  When we came to a road, we realized we had made a pretty bad decision.  We didn’t realize how bad till Dan and Brian pulled out the trail map and realized we were on a golf course.

If you zoom in, you can see that we were basically in the middle of nowhere with two snowboarders and four skiiers.  Luckily, we only had to hike for a bit before Derek flagged down a bus which brought us back to the main area.  We would have been hiking for like 3 hours so thank God for that bus!

2/14: rode a snowcat February 16, 2009

We went skiing with friends at Sugarloaf in Maine.  What a blast.  Anyway, it was so windy on Saturday that they closed down almost all of the lifts and used the snowcat to get people up to where the TBar (according to one tool: “The largest vertical surfact lift in the USA”) could take you most of the way to the summit.  It was really fun to ride in this thing!  Good friends, good skiing, and greasy food- what more could I ask for?

Also, I fell four times (none skiing- all when I was walking!)

4. Walking through the woods to the other condo

I am covered in bruises, but it was well worth it.

2/7: got a Shamwow! February 16, 2009

I am addicted to infomercials. Brian happened to mention that he thought this looked amazing, so I got it for his birthday.  (How romantic, right?)  Other things I have purchased off of tv include (but are not limited to):

-the PedEgg

-the ab shocker belt (which was supposed to tighten your stomach by giving you electric shocks.  No tightening but it hurt like a bitch.)

-Shamwow!

2/13: ate a White Mystery Airhead February 13, 2009

I am pretty sure that the mystery is that it is revolting.  It tasted like frosting.  I almost puked.  I am not a frosting person.  I never want the rose.  I always flip a piece of cake upside down and eat the cake only, and I occasionally play with the frosting to see if I can make any cool colors.  Other than that, I’m not a fan.  In other news, I grossly underestimated the amount of pizza third graders can eat.

So tomorrow officially ends my year of new things.  I can’t believe it.  I am going to continue but right now I am off to ski (at a new place which will be my very last new thing for the official year of new things.)

2/11: got a birthday cake at work February 13, 2009

How nice!  And it wasn’t even my birthday.  hahahaha  It was actually quite a sweet (no pun intended) gesture.

I woke up with Oscar completely wrapped around my neck and out like a light.   I feel like this is a little bit dangerous.
