keep on keepin’ on January 31, 2009

I’ve officially decided to keep writing my blog after the year of new things is officially over (in two short weeks- hello, 31!)  I have seen my traffic go from a measly 134 in March 2008 to the current 5,218 for January 2009.  I greatly enjoy sharing my experiences and will continue to do so.  Hopefully, you will keep reading.  I can’t promise a new thing every day, but will continue to step out of my comfort zone.  I am also taking suggestions for new experiences- please let me know.

1/30: saved Oscar and Clara January 31, 2009

They were playing with this thing:

and somehow got themselves stuck in the bathroom.   They couldn’t get out so I saved them.  Note: we take this thing down when we are not home just in case of this scenario.  Now I know that I am not just being paranoid.

In other news, I am supposed to be skiing right now but I am home because I threw a hissy and didn’t go.  I am so immature that I can’t believe myself sometimes.  So instead, I am doing some work and updating my blog and going on facebook.

1/29: did Wii running January 31, 2009

Cost: free to me because I own a Wii (nice rhyme!)

Time: 30 mins.

I am sick of being out of shape.  I was good about running a lot (by running, I mean jogging at an obscenely slow pace, but that’s not the point) over the spring and into the summer.  Then Spain happened and I think I traversed a distance equal to the Camino de Santiago and back by the power of my own getaway sticks.  I’ve been home for a few months though and haven’t been so good about working out.  So I did Wii running (as my own Mii) and hey, its a start, right?

Apparently, playing this game keeps your brain in check.  It is mildly fun, too.

1/27: drank gourmet hot chocolate January 28, 2009

Cost: free (it was a gift)

Time: it has been sitting on top of my fridge for one to two years

It is caramel something or other (see below.)  I got a pack of it for Christmas (a few years ago… can this make me sick???)  It is pretty good, but I am a loyal Dunkin Donuts gal.

1/26: wore blue toenail polish January 28, 2009

Again, I am grossed out by feet (even my own.)  I am slacking in the new things department.

1/25 bonus: won $30 playing Keno January 26, 2009

Cost: $1/bet

Time: We were there for about an hour

Brian and I went to dinner at the Ale House and we decided to play a little (only 6 games at $1/apiece) Keno.  Never has either of us won more than a dollar but tonight I won $30 and Brian won $20 which more than paid for our dinner.  Sweet.

1/25: started a new page January 25, 2009

Cost: Free because I use the library

Time: one book a week (hopefully more) for a year

Because I am reading 52 books this year, I added a page (Reading is Fun!) so I can keep track.  I tend to be on the absentminded side.

1/24: ate garlic pizza January 25, 2009

Cost: about 7 bucks

Time: I wolfed this thing down.  Ten minutes? (I did NOT eat the whole thing.  I have some self control.)

Being hungover, I could not have asked for a more delicious treat.  And more hellacious breath.  It was so worth it.

1/23: got my 200th friend on facebook January 23, 2009

Time: I believe it has been about eight months.

Cost: facebook is free and no idea what drinks will cost, but who cares because we are celebrating!

And yes, they are all (except for one who is a friend of a friend) people I actually know.  I feel ridiculously popular.  And now I am off to celebrate Amy’s birthday on this Fabulous Friday.  Happy weekend!
