10/30: was disappointed in the choice of ladies’ costumes October 31, 2008

NOT US!

I went to five stores and in all 5, the majority of costumes for women were trampy.  I am fairly modest and not into showing off my goods, so I was getting quite annoyed.  I ended up with cat ears and a tail that I am wearing to school tomorrow (with a black sweater and black pants) and another surprise costume for the two parties that you will have to wait and see.  I will post pictures next week.  It is a joint costume for me and Brian (but not joint in the sense that it is like a two person horse or anything.)

If we were the two person horse, we would certainly not be this.

10/29: wrote my first report card October 31, 2008

Ten to go!  I didn’t have to do this at my last job because the academic teacher did it.  Now, I am the academic teacher.  It isn’t so bad though- just takes some time, but the system is easy to navigate.

10/28: watched the new 90210 October 29, 2008

Two thumbs down.  Not interested.  Maybe I am longing for eighth grade again, or maybe I am too old to care about the issues today’s teens of Beverly Hills.

10/27: Reeses Peanut Butter Whipps October 27, 2008

Not a fan.  This came from the prior mentioned unnecessary bag of Halloween candy.

10/26: wrote my first progress report October 27, 2008

Three down, eight to go.  I am ahead of the game, so if I do three tomorrow, three Tuesday, and two Wednesday, I can start on report cards on Thursday.  It is pretty neat to track how they are doing- the students are working really hard.

10/25: ate a Take 5 candy bar October 25, 2008

Chocolate, caramel, and pretzels- together at last.  Or maybe they have been around for a long time.  I have never heard of this candy before, but I am glad I found it.  I bought a bag of assorted Hershey’s treats just in time to eat the bag before Halloween arrives.  Full disclosure: I live in a locked building in which each and every person is an adult.  We have yet to have trick or treaters in the four years we have lived here.

Either way, it was delicious.

10/24: ordered deli meat on a computer and picked it up later October 24, 2008

I didn’t know you could do this, but at Stop and Shop, they have a computer where you can order your deli items and they package it up and call your number over the loudspeaker when it is ready.  This is a complete timesaver considering there are two young men who work the counter at the store I go to who are, every single time, not in appropriate states of mind to be at work.  It makes it kind of funny, but getting your order takes about 10 minutes longer than it needs to.  Here is an example:

Me: Hello!  Could I have a pound of honey roasted turkey?

#1: What?

Me: A pound of honey roasted turkey please.

#1: How much?

Me: A pound.

Then he takes roughly six minutes to do this while he and his buddy are cracking up.

#1: Here you go.  Anything else?

Me: A pound of American cheese.

#1: How much?  1/2 pound?

Me: No.  A whole pound.

#1: Here you go.

I look at it and it is 1/4 of a pound.

Me: I asked for a pound.

#1: I didn’t hear you.

Me: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

20 minutes later, I was on my way.

As you can tell, I am quite pleased to not have to deal with this anymore.

10/23: ate star shaped french fries October 24, 2008

Delicious.  AND I get to be a bridesmaid in my BFF Melody’s wedding. I am so freaking excited.  They are perfect for each other!
