6/26: Read American Cheerleader Magazine June 27, 2008

No joke- I am 30 years old and I read this magazine.  Disclaimer: it was in the hospital and it was something to do while I waited.  I have never been a cheerleader.  (Secret: I always wanted to be one, but I was too much of a dork.  Don’t tell anyone.)

6/25: Drank Strawberry Water June 27, 2008

Cost: $1.50

Yum! It was Dasani (spelling?) I enjoyed it very much as it was fruity, but not overpowering. Delicious.

PS- My dad had surgery today, but he is a-ok! Yay!

6/24: donated to the South Shore Humane Society June 24, 2008

I took Barney to the vet for a check up today (he is 16, had a heart murmur, and a thyroid condition that made him lose 3 lbs since August) to make sure his new medicine is working out. Great news- he is up to 9.1 lbs (from a low of 7.6), his medicine seems to be working great (a blood test will confirm- results should be here by Friday), and the heart murmur is gone! Dr. P said that she believes the heart murmur is gone because it was related to the thyroid condition which is now under control. In honor of this great news, I made a donation on Barney’s behalf to the South Shore Humane Society. They are a pet organization without an actual shelter and they depend on donations to provide their services. http://www.petfinder.com/shelters/MA317.html

6/23: got my hair cut (the shortest it has ever been) June 23, 2008

Cost: $50.00 (incl. tip)

Time: 45 minutes

Its a crewcut, just in time for summer! Just kidding- it is just above my shoulders with long layers. I like it, but I wish I could have long, thick hair. It wasn’t in the cards- I have fine baby hair which looks weird when it gets too long. Maybe someday I will spring for extensions. But for now, I will enjoy my new hair (which looks great if I do say so myself.)

6/22: caramel french toast June 22, 2008

Cost: $8.95 (for french toast- jeez!)

Time: not enough- we were in a rush

It was good, but it tasted quite similar to regular french toast. I got it at the airport on the way home from the wedding. It was supposed to come with powdered sugar but it didn’t, which disappointed me, but we were going to be late for the plane if I went back.

6/21: flew on Southwest June 22, 2008

Cost: about $130

Time: 1 hr., 20 minutes

Southwest has open seating, an important fact that I did not know until I had already boarded the plane and walked to the very back. I was looking for Row 21, Seat C which was unavailable. I quickly figured it out (if quickly means having already been on the plane for about 5 minutes) and found a seat.

Pros: Southwest is cheap and they have great customer service.

Cons: You have to fly out of Manchester or Providence (and I live so close to Logan.)

We went to the wedding of Brian’s college friend JB and his new wife Ami on Gibson Island in Maryland. The wedding was fun and it was absolutely gorgeous- right on the water. I got to wear my blue dress and Brian got to wear a tux (and many people told him he looks like Andy Garcia. I don’t see it, but Brian is very attractive in his own right.) I will post a picture of the blue dress soon.

6/20: got a pedicure that I hate June 22, 2008

Cost: $25.00 + tip

Time: about an hour

I am not one for nailpolish. I like sheer colors only. I was given a gift card to a nail salon last year (which was about to expire) so I went for a pedicure. For some reason, I chose this bubble-gummish pink color and I can’t stand it. I realize I could take it off and do it myself in a different color, but I have yet to do so and I am going to a wedding where I am wearing strappy sandals, so I probably will not.

6/19: remotely viewed the Celtics Rolling Rally June 19, 2008

For those of you who do not know, when a pro team wins a championship in Boston, they hold a rolling rally with the athletes traveling through the city on Duck Boats. I intended to go to this rally in person, but didn’t wake up early enough, so I am watching it on tv and following its progress via cell phone updates from Brian (as his office is on the route.) I realize this is one of the lamest new things I have done so far. I have hauled my ass into the city for the Red Sox, but it was not to be today.

6/18: won a driving race June 19, 2008

NOTE: this was not an actual race- no one was injured and we stayed well within the speed limit.  Brian and I were leaving my mom’s birthday party and had two separate cars.  He usually drives faster than me, but I beat him home (SAFELY- don’t get your panties twisted.)  I know that he let me win, but I was still pleased with myself.
