For D & K’s anniversary (35 years! Congratulations!) Brian and I took them to Sabatinos in Hull. The atmosphere was wonderful (it is a tiny little place about a block up from the water with a very “Nantucket” feel) and the food and service were amazing. I got the Eggplant Involtino (this is probably spelled wrong) and it was so so so good. It was like rolled up eggplant parmesan (at least, that is what I think it would be like, as this was my first experience eating eggplant.) I loved it. You should also know that I am by no means an adventurous eater.
5/23: ran a mile and walked a mile May 25, 2008
I know this is not much of a workout. I did it for comparison purposes. I went to the track (which is only 3x around for a mile per the posted sign) and put on my yellow watch and ran (jogged) a mile, then immediately walked the second mile. I did this because I was curious how fast I can do it, and what the difference is between times. Here are my results:
Jogging: 10:32 mins
Walking: 14:52 mins
I am aiming to improve on the running time. I would like to get into the eights at some point over the summer. Note: this is not a picture of me because I am too shy to take a pic of myself running right now.

5/22: smoked a cigar on the roof May 25, 2008

Time: about a half hour
Cost: $$ from Cigar Masters
Don’t tell the police or the fire department, but I snuck up there and smoked a cigar. Please note that I have a deck, so it wasn’t like I was sitting on shingles or anything. Yes, I know smoking is bad, but this is only the fourth cigar I have had in my life. (No cigarettes, ever, so I think I am doing ok.)
PS- Happy Birthday, Dottie!
5/21: started my Spanish cd course May 25, 2008
Cost: $79.95 for the cds, books, and flash cards
Time: varies (I plan to do a unit every two days during my commute)
As you probably know, I am going to Spain over the summer to take intensive Spanish classes. I am hoping to come back at least conversational. In preparation, I bought the Berlitz kit and I started it today. So far, so good- but I did take Spanish for 4 years in high school (oh, so long ago.) The first unit is about greeting people, telling time, and talking about where you live. I can also recite my phone number in Spanish.

5/20: watched an Irish Step Dance presentation May 25, 2008
I watched two Irish Step Dancers and learned a few steps myself. It was pretty cool. I had no idea how much work goes into this type of dance. Fun fact: the reason step dancers do not move their arms is because the English made a rule (law?) that the Irish could not dance. To get around it, the Irish would stand behind a bush and dance from the waist down while keeping their upper bodies still.

5/19: learned to play Spellicans May 25, 2008
I was under the impression that this was a game from China, but wikipedia says that it is from England. It is pick up sticks, but the sticks have different colored ends and the colors correspond to points. At the end of the game, you count the sticks you have and add up the points and the player with the most points wins. Fun game!
5/18: forgot to update my blog May 25, 2008
Whoops! No idea what I did today, but not updating counts!
5/17: drank Hoegaarden White May 25, 2008

Cost: $4.50 + tip
The Beer Advocate (www.beeradvocate.com) gives this beer a B+ overall. I would agree. I liked it, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to get it again. It is a little heavy, but has a nice sharp taste.
5/16: Harvard Museum of Natural History May 17, 2008
Cost: free to me because I was a chaperone on a field trip, but I think it is $9.00 for adults
Time: 9:30 am to 1:00 pm
http://www.hmnh.harvard.edu/
It was pretty cool. I would like to spend some more time there as all I got to see were the rocks and minerals, the Mayan civilization, and the animals.
5/15: got my M.Ed.! May 17, 2008
Cost: $$$ (but my school was relatively inexpensive)
Time: two years (taking two classes a semester and some summer classes)
I know this is not the first time I have talked about graduating, but the ceremony was today. It was held at the school and our speaker was the CEO of Harvard Pilgrim. Unexpectedly, he was really good. I got to wear my yellow ropes (two for honor society and one for graduating with honors) and I got to share the experience with my good friend Keri (congratulations!) and most of my family.
